Had an awesome time at the Pittsburgh Photography night photography class. The class was extremely easy to follow, very understandable for all skill levels, and packed with helpful real-world tips. The instructor was patient, knowledgeable, and always willing to help guide everyone through camera settings, compositions, and shooting techniques throughout the night. It was a great hands-on experience around the city, and I walked away feeling much more confident shooting nighttime photos. Highly recommend this class to anyone looking to improve their photography skills while exploring the city at night.

Another great event with a great teacher. He discussed how to achieve motion blur using a variety of techniques including the use of neutral density filters, tripods and slow shutter speeds to produce the blur. Panning was covered including with and without the tripod. Paul took us to several locations to practice the techniques and was helpful with camera settings. I enjoyed the class and it was another great opportunity to be in downtown Pittsburgh and taking pictures. I highly recommend this class and our teacher.

This was a great get-together. It was what I needed, firstly, to get me out shooting now that winter is over, and secondly, to help me step out of my usual routine when I do get out to shoot and try with greater intentionality a technique I have only toyed with occasionally before.

    PHOTOGRAPHERS
    Paul Vladuchick
Paul Vladuchick is a Pittsburgh based photographic artist born outside of Detroit, Michigan. Self-taught in the fundamentals of photography in the time before the internet, he relied on his public library and their many books on photography, composition, lighting and exposure, significant amounts of experimentation and trips to the Detroit Institute of Art Museum where he had a particular interest in sculpture.

Paul's images are typically an exploration of the contrast between the artificial lights of the city of Pittsburgh and the darkness of the night. His modern artistic vision started in the mid 2010s after moving back to Pittsburgh from California. Wanting to explore and photograph the city and only having time in the evening to do so, he started to experiment with various techniques in low and artificial light.

Paul Vladuchick is available for private bookings

Available most weekends before 5 PM
Available most weekdays after 7 PM.

Private tutoring in portraits, events, travel photography.
Private tutoring in post processing using either Lightroom and Skylum Luminar

Spring is officially here, and Pittsburgh is full of incredible color! I recently visited the city's North Shore to capture the iconic cherry blossoms blooming near the ALCOA building along the Allegheny River. There are flowering trees all along the riverwalk, but this exact spot is always one of my favorite places to shoot this time of year. I love how the vibrant colors come together and the blossoms perfectly frame the Andy Warhol Bridge!

This image is a Still Life Composition of "Berries, Wine and Grapes" that I created on a rainy day in my bedroom. I used no fancy Studio Lighting at all. My only light source was a hand-held flashlight that I kept moving rapidly. It was an experiment in Light Painting when I couldn't go outside to shoot.
